About

For most of my life, I thought I wanted to study science. I went to college at Willamette University (which you have likely never heard of, but is a small liberal arts school in Oregon), majored in Math and Physics, went on to pursue my PhD in Physics at the University of Maryland, and then decided it wasn’t for me. In August 2016, I made the move to Ann Arbor, MI for my boyfriend’s job and was faced with the daunting task of figuring out a next step.

As I worked to figure these things out, I found baking to be quite relaxing. As a kid, I used to bake with my mom, so maybe it was the nostalgia factor. Or maybe it was that I felt like I had a small idea of what to do. Anyway, it was a nice break from the otherwise stressful task of figuring out life. Along the way, I became very interested in bread baking, ate many delicious things, and even ended up discovering a love of cooking!

About a year later, I decided to take it one step further and begin studying Baking and Pastry Arts at Washtenaw Community College in the hopes of making a career out my hobby. I am not sure what this path will bring, but I hope it will lead to good things. I am certainly very excited for what’s to come!

Follow my adventures to hear about my random baking projects, possibly wine-fueled contemplations about life, and maybe some cooking adventures. Hopefully you’ll find it somewhat amusing.
